2016 Distinguished Citizen Award

Freedoms Foundation was proud to honor Drs. Pina and the late Jack Templeton with the 2016 Distinguished Citizen Award recognizing their lifetime commitment to civic education and serving as exemplars of responsible citizenship. The presentation was held our our inaugural Evening with Freedoms Foundation: Honoring Teachers, Character, and the Medal of Honor.

David Eisenhower was the keynote speaker who talked about the need today for inspiring programs for teachers and students like those provided by Freedoms Foundation, which provide both civic education and character development.

Anna-Lisa Dahlgren of Wisconsin (picture, far right) spoke passionately on behalf of her fellow teachers in support of high quality professional development programs that benefit both teachers and their students. All the teachers pictured above attended the Medal of Honor Legacy seminar in summer 2015.

Major General Patrick Brady spoke on behalf of all the Medal of Honor Recpients about the need for good teachers and the difference they can make in the lives of their students by helping to form their character and help them to become citizens committed to our democracy. He praised the partnership between Freedoms Foundation and the Medal of Honor Society and Foundation whose Character Development Program is central to many of our professional development programs for teachers.
