2021 Spirit of America Youth Leadership Program

 

In this four-day conference, high school students interact with experts on citizenship, democracy, the judiciary, the political process, and the free enterprise system.  The program  includes thought-provoking lectures, historical tours, and experiential workshops, all designed to develop leadership skills and deepen an understanding of the rights and responsibilities  of engaged citizenship.

We will be sponsoring students from a variety of local high schools for the 2021 Spirit Of America (SOA) Youth Leadership program  in Valley Forge, PA.  Our sponsorship includes round-trip air fare as well as tuition and room and board at Freedoms Foundation’s campus in Valley Forge. Dates for this conference will be in the spring.

Any Sacramento area high school student is eligible to apply, however preference is given to Juniors, because they are studying US History during the academic year.

2021 SOA Application Instructions

Any high school student is eligible to apply to the SOA program, however preference will be given to juniors.

There are five parts to the application:

  1. Complete and submit the Student Application.  This takes just a few minutes and should be done as soon as possible to get your application process started;
  2. Submit a digital photo of yourself (head & shoulders).  Submit your photo to freedomsfoundation.sac@gmail.com.   The subject line should “SOA photo [your name]”.
  3. Have your parent or guardian complete and submit the Parent/Guardian Consent;
  4. Have a  teacher or other educator complete and submit the Academic Referral;
  5. Have a community member who is not related to you, such as an employer, manager, church leader, community service organization leader, etc. complete and submit the Community Referral;
  6. Write and submit your Essay by December 1, 2020.

Completed Applications will be accepted beginning *October 1, 2020 and are due by midnight on December 1, 2020.
