Trace the steps of the father of our country in Freedoms Foundation’s five-day adult education program In The Footsteps of George Washington from Oct. 13-17, 2019.
Participants will tour locations of the Revolutionary War’s finest and darkest moments, including Washington’s Crossing, Monmouth, Valley Forge, and Philadelphia; view key documents from the nation’s early years at the American Philosophical Society; enjoy lunch in a re-creation of City Tavern, frequented by the country’s first president and other founders; and hear from the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army.
Among the scholars participating in the program will be Dr. William B. Allen, the former chairman of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission and a Freedoms Foundation trustee. Dr. Allen is currently a Senior Scholar in Residence at the University of Colorado Boulder. His published works include George Washington: A Collection (Liberty Press) and George Washington: America’s First Progressive (Peter Lang Inc.).
The package includes academic lectures and tours of historic sites, accommodations in Freedoms Foundation’s dormitory-style rooms, breakfast and dinner daily, lunch at City Tavern, motor-coach transportation for all tours, and knowledgeable guides and escorts.
