Jason L. S. Raia

Chief Operating Officer

Jason L. S. Raia is the Chief Operating Officer at Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge where he joined the organization in November 2007 as Vice President of Education.

A former high school history teacher for nearly a decade and a half, Jason is currently president of the Pennsylvania Council for the Social Studies and co-chaired the 2022 National Council for the Social Studies annual conference in Philadelphia, which saw 3,500 social studies teachers participate in over 500 professional development sessions. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of American Historical Theatre, and is on the Education Committee for the Union League Legacy Foundation.

Jason has published op-eds in the Philadelphia Inquirer and will have a forthcoming article on the state of civic education today in the American Bar Association’s The Judges’ Journal published in early 2023.

After graduating cum laude from Boston College in 1993 with a degree in philosophy, Jason returned for graduate studies as a Lonergan Fellow in the history of philosophy. He also holds a certificate in Nonprofit Management from LaSalle University.

He is a fan of Formula One racing, Liverpool Football Club, foreign travel, opera, Broadway, and has never turned down a trip to a museum.
