Our Mission

The Chattanooga Chapter of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge educates students and teachers about the rights and responsibilities of American citizenship, inspiring them to preserve and advance our freedoms.

Our Vision

The Chattanooga Chapter of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge envisions an America where the rising generation loves their country and understands, values, and defends its founding ideals.

Who We Are

Mrs. Margaret Whittenburg Cooper, founded the Chattanooga Chapter of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge in 1968. She was educated in the Chattanooga Public School system and later served more than 40 years as teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent. Since her passing in 2008, the Chattanooga Chapter has continued to thrive under the leadership of several outstanding Chattanooga natives and the dedication of its members.

The Chattanooga Chapter sponsors 11th grade students to attend the Spirit of America Youth Leadership Program at Valley Forge and gives awards to teachers to attend the Freedoms Foundation summer seminars. The chapter proudly participates in the Chattanooga Armed Forces Day Parade, provides awards to local citizens for outstanding service to the community, and collaborates with the Chattanooga Medal of Honor Museum.

Students

Thousands of students from across the country have obtained a greater understanding and appreciation of American history and civic responsibility through Freedoms Foundation’s Spirit of America Youth Leadership Program.

During your residential stay, you will also build leadership skills, engage in civil discourse, and identify how you can positively impact your community.

The Chattanooga Chapter sponsors juniors to attend the Spirit of America Youth Leadership Program. Students are selected to attend based on essays written from the Freedoms Foundation National Awards program.
