American Revolution North
July 2-7, 2022
Academic Director: Arch Hunter, M.Ed.
Locations: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts
Participants will explore various aspects of the physical history associated with the American Revolution in New Jersey, New York, and the New England Colonies. Each day will be a combination of visiting and exploring important sites combined with lectures, group discussions and other pedagogical activities.
Teachers will visit such sites as the Old North Church, Fort Ticonderoga, and the Saratoga National Historic Park to explore the history associated with the American Revolution in this country. Additional visits to the Minute Man NHP and Lexington & Concord amongst others will allow participants to explore the political, social, economic history associated with that same region.
By experiencing the physical history of the aforementioned sites teachers obtain a concrete experiential sense of history that they can bring back to their classrooms in addition to content knowledge and pedagogy.
Program features include:
- Visits to Fort Ticonderoga, Saratoga National Historical Park, and Lexington & Concord
- Explore Boston including Old North Church, Freedom Trail, and Bunker Hill Memorial
- Network with teachers from across the country to learn about new ways to incorporate this important content in classrooms
