Our Mission

The Dallas Chapter of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge educates students and teachers about the rights and responsibilities of American citizenship, inspiring them to preserve and advance our freedoms.

Our Vision

The Dallas Chapter of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge envisions an America where the rising generation loves their country and understands, values, and defends its founding ideals.

Who We Are

The Dallas Area Chapter was organized on Constitution Day in 1970.  After months of careful planning, twenty enthusiastic volunteers from a broad cross section of Dallas came together dedicated to the goals of inspiring love of freedom, instilling pride in America, and developing responsible citizenship.

Today the chapter holds three membership meetings each year, an awards dinner in the fall, a George Washington Birthday celebration, and a meeting in April featuring presentations by student and teacher alumni from the Freedoms Foundation youth leadership programs and graduate teacher seminars.

As of its 50th anniversary in 2020, the chapter has sent over 330 students to Valley Forge youth leadership conferences, sponsored over 100 teachers for graduate teacher programs, recognized over 600 citizens or organizations with national awards, and sponsored nine teachers who received the Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education.  In 2017, the chapter was recognized as the FFVF Chapter of the Year.

Thousands of students from across the country have obtained a greater understanding and appreciation of American history and civic responsibility through Freedoms Foundation’s Spirit of America Youth Leadership Program.

Learn about democracy, the judiciary, the political process, founding documents, and the free enterprise system through innovative workshops and historical site visits that allow you to encounter our nation’s past, present and future. During your residential stay, you will also build leadership skills, engage in civil discourse, and identify how you can positively impact your community.

The Dallas Chapter sponsors students to attend the Spirit of America Youth Leadership Program.  If you or a student you know is interested in applying for the 2024 Spring program, please contact the VPs of Education, Trasa Cobern  or Caroline Keeland –
