What You Learn

In this program, led by Allen C. Guelzo (Princeton University); participants will explore the settlement that followed the four years of the American Civil War by examining the principal personalities of Reconstruction (Andrew Johnson, Ulysses Grant, Charles Sumner, Frederick Douglass) and the passage of the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments, while seeking to understand how they have shaped the US, from the 1870s into the modern era.
