At the 75th AMVETS Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, in August, the National Ladies Auxiliary presented Freedoms Foundation with a check for $22,689 earmarked for a generator for the MacArthur Building. Every year AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary members from across the nation raise money for Freedoms Foundation through the annual Americanism Project. The funds raised always go toward a capital project that helps to support the ongoing educational programs on the Valley Forge campus.
AMVETS National Ladies Auxiliary has been supporting Freedoms Foundation since 1954. Dee Baggett of Florida, the newly installed national president, announced that Freedoms Foundation will be the focus of her National President’s Project in 2019-2020.
“I believe we should NEVER FORGET our rights and responsibilities as citizens, which is what Freedoms Foundation is teaching our children every day,” Baggett said. “Since being elected Department Americanism Officer and attending the Americanism Conference [held at Freedoms Foundation], I have always wanted to support the educational mission of our friends at Freedoms.”
The generator planned for the MacArthur Building, which is home to dorm rooms, a game room, and the campus dining facility, will guarantee that there is always heat, lights, and food for any group on campus, even during a power outage.
Freedoms Foundation could not be more thankful for the leadership and support of the entire AMVETS and National Ladies Auxiliary organizations.
